Introduction (pg15-16, pg60-62)
This stage starts with very general background information, gradually becomes more specific. It also Part 1 Orientation to the topic often includes definitions of important terms that will be used in the essay.
Part 2 Outline This stage very briefly outlines the topics or positions that the essay will move through. It may also include the essay’s purpose.
Abk Part 3 Thesis (pg57, 86, 88-92) This stage states the argument or proposition that the essay will set out to prove. It may also state the purpose of the essay.
Part 4 Scope This stage states the limits of the topic to be covered in the essay. It shows what the focus is within the broad topic area.
