Research question:
How social media (Facebook, twitter LinkedIn etc.) leading the teenager to depression
Introduction:
My research question is how social media (Facebook, twitter LinkedIn etc.) is leading teenagers to depression. This topic will help me to analyze the impact of social media especially on teenagers (Hall, 2012). Teenagers are the most affected population group towards social networking and using this online interaction service to manage their personal and professional lives. Social networking sites such as Facebook, MySpace, LinkedIn, and Twitter have attracted millions of users who have integrated these sites into their daily practices. These sites build an atmosphere that deal only with the fantasy of the imagination (Hart, 2010). The teenagers have ever increasing mountain of desires and wishes, and unable to handle the needs[AK1]. Most of the minors mix up their needs with their wants and believe they are essential to survive. Social media increases the desire to be as trendy and fashionable as the pictures look. There are advantages related to the use of these sites, but the disadvantages are much higher than the advantages.
Social media and teenage depression:
The use of social media is like a drug for teenagers. They use social media to update their status, share pictures and video, and comment on their friend’s postings. All these habits make their life socially connect and personally disconnect with the people they knew more closely such as family. “an examining of my Facebook channel at the beginning of today uncovers a film cut of my J.Crew model– esque sister-in-law shake moving in the adirondacks, news of my more youthful cousin winning $1,000 in a singing rivalry, a companion’s portraits from her later excursion to morocco, a post on my recently distributed companion’s book page, an attachment for my companion’s new home-based gems business, … I feel deficient, incompetent, and exhausting. Why? On the grounds that i have ‘Facebook sadness.’ ” (Williams). [AK2]
That is an illustration of exaggerated Facebook depression composed in kathrynwilliams in divine caroline. This quote exhibits impeccably what normally happens when one sees energizing things occurring in other individuals’ lives when their existence is at an exhausting standstill. Interpersonal interaction has come to be so prevalent these days that sadness from Facebook could be more tormenting than gloom from this present reality. That, as well as it has its own particular term- -“Facebook depression.” Facebook is utilized as a long range interpersonal communication site in which individuals have the capacity to associate with their companions (valkenburg, peter, &schouten[AK3], 2006). It is noticed that [AK4]the Facebook users comprises the majority of students.
In spite of the fact that analysts are not certain assuming that it is an augmentation of dejection a few children feel or a dissimilar condition interfaced with utilizing the online website, it ought to be treated with the same reality.[AK5] The children with parental care, family, sense of being in a community relates with the relations [AK6]personally instead of technically. There are five cautioning signs one communicates in the event that he or she has social media dejection. They are: Fixation, Social disconnection Scholastic execution change Physical appearance/health decrease and Noteworthy state of mind change over a brief time of time (moreno, jelenchick, egan, cox, young, gannon, &becker, 2011). Fixation on social media implies the adolescent invests a lot of time speaking or contemplating their action. In the event that the teenager is socially secluded then the youngster invests more of a chance alone and taking part in online movement as opposed to investing up close and personal time with their companions. They likewise may be more cranky than common. Digital tormenting, security attack, and desire are explanations for the Facebook depression in adolescents.
Cyber harassing
Cyber harassing is one of the most essential and fundamental driver [AK7]of social media gloom. Teenagers are continuously digital harassed everywhere throughout the web. Obviously, this issue is not just through Facebook, Twitter, MySpace etc; despite the fact that Facebook is a spot where the majority of it happens on the grounds that it is a standout amongst the most went by site on the planet [AK8](hall, 2012). Digital tormenting is hassling, embarrassing, undermining or humiliating an alternate individual through electronic routines. These systems incorporate texting, message or content informing. It could be as awful as or more awful than physical tormenting in light of the fact that there is nobody to see somebody being digitally tormented. Numerous high schoolers disregard to let someone know [AK9]maybe in light of the fact that they suppose requesting help from somebody is an indication of shortcoming. Thirty-two percent of online adolescents have encountered some manifestation of provocation through the internet (Servance, 2003).
As per later information, fifteen percent of online youngsters have had private material sent without authorization, thirteen percent have appropriated debilitating messages and six percent have had humiliating photographs posted without consent (kaveri, stephanie, natalia, guadalupe, 2008). The individuals who are 17 or under make up about ten percent of social media populace and those matured 18-24 record for twenty-five percent. Inside these two gatherings are real kids – the adolescents and teens who are even now studying how to utilize the web legitimately. Girls are annoyed all the more frequently. Thirty-eight percent reported some type of online badgering. Interpersonal organization clients are less averse to report online provocation. Thirty-nine percent of the clients experience it. The greater part of badgering originates from different minors (Kuzma, 2013).
This sort of tormenting can incorporate demeaning messages, bits of gossip being spread, fake data -about all the things that can happen in genuine living, yet on the web. A case of digital tormenting incorporates [AK10]two sixteen year old young ladies who made up a fake profile of a fifteen year old young lady. They were captured on charges of digital tormenting. With the new facebook profile, they posted foul photographs and remarks on it. A few photographs incorporated photo shopped ones of the young ladies being stripped.
Privacy attacks
Privacy attack is an alternate issue managing Facebook depression. Protection attack is when something an individual needs to mind their own business or something they don’t need other individuals knowing is figured out without their assent. It can work in the inverse much as well. Provided that individuals were to have a photograph taken of them and they were doing something with negative implication and it was posted on Facebook and they were tagged in it, contingent upon their protection settings can their companions see it, as well as the companions of their companions. Additionally, now on Facebook there is a live news encourage continually redesigning with posts from the greater part of the individuals on an individual’s companions record regardless of the fact that it is towards somebody they don’t even know, contingent upon their security settings.

[AK1]I’m not sure what you mean by this. [AK2]This is a long quote. Whenever you have a quote like this, you have to format it specially, and you also have to be sure to introduce it properly. It’s confusing for your readers to read the introduction to the quote AFTER reading the quote. [AK3]Watch your capitalization throughout of proper names. [AK4]Awkward passive voice – who notices this? [AK5]I’m not sure what this means. [AK6]wording [AK7]word choice [AK8]phrasing [AK9]phrasing [AK10]awkward [AK11]You have yet to cite a source in this section. This is a problem – see end comment. [AK12]Faisal,
One of the biggest problems with your paper currently is that it’s mainly a report. You set out to prove a point – that Facebook causes depression – and then you summarize several sources (until your section on privacy attacks where you cut out sources entirely) to make your argument.
That’s fine for other papers, but this paper is an inquiry, not a report. One way to turn this into more of an inquiry is to get your sources talking to one another. This is something your paper currently does not do. Every one of your sources is treated and summarized separately. You never “go beyond summary” to question or speak back to your sources. Try to tie ideas from your sources together. Like I said on my last round of comments, your section on Facebook depression is great. But how does that relate to cyber bullying? What’s the connection? Or, how does Williams’s definition of Facebook depression relate to your later sources’ claims that Facebook encourages negative body image among teens?
You’ve got some revising to do before turning this in, but I think you can work with what you have – just create more connective tissue between your sources.
