A needs assessment is figuring out the current state of an organization before developing solutions within that organization (Musser, Hoover, & Fernandez, 2012). By doing a needs assessment, an organization can save time and money on coming up with solutions to fix problems. Finding out the current state of the organization will help in figuring out what exact problems need to be fixed, where these problems are occurring, and who or what is having the problems.
